I made the decision not to plant petunias this year. I love them. They just always take so much watering. They end up droopy when I do not keep up with all the watering. Not knowing my petunia ban, husband and son gave me petunias for my birthday. My plan was to leave them in the pots they came in. That did not work. The plants were so root bound that tonight I put both of them in a new huge pot. Hopefully, this will help them flourish. And....keep me from watering twice a day. While I messed with the flowers, Tink used her watering pitcher to help. Coco crawled around the patio getting as dirty as she could. The Kid played with Uncle and had several dramatic breakdowns. A day at the beach did not make for a pleasant visit with The Kid.
When I was little a summer night like this would have had neighbors sitting out on their front steps. Kids playing in the yards. We played tag, ghost in the graveyard, hot box. Time seemed to go so much slower. Life was more relaxing. We would walk down to the ball fields to watch some games. We always knew someone that was playing. If we were not at the games, we could still hear the loudspeaker from my house. Games would go on late into the night.
Now I have to force myself to make time to enjoy the evenings. Go outside and sit on the patio. Harder to find time to enjoy the lazy, hazy days of summer. I am looking forward to a four day week-end. I am committed to taking some time to smell the roses. Sit on the patio. Do nothing but enjoy the moment! Perfect time to read a book!
Hope you find time this week-end to relax outside. Remember how to enjoy a summer night!
