Today some of The Page Turner's were discussing what we would like to read in the next year. I decided to do some reading research. If you are looking for something new, just google book club favorite picks. Plenty of places to see what people are reading. Here are some books I discovered. Let me know if you have read any of them.
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hasseini - This appears on most of the "must read" lists. The Mc commented on this book a couple of days ago on my blog.
Amy & Rogers Epic Detour by Morgan Matson - This is a first time author that is getting great reviews. This looks like a fun read. Not sure I will get to it this summer. Maybe, on vacation.
Art of Racing In The Rain by Garth Stein - I have picked this book up and put it down a few times. The dog on the cover keeps me from buying it. Hasn't the dog story already been done?
Little Bee: A Novel by Chris Cleave - This book is suppose to be funny.
Beach Trip by Cathy Colton - I think I have covered the fact put beach in a title and you have me.
Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand, Wednesday Sister by Meg Waite Clayton - Do not remember anything about these books. Just put them on my list.
Let me know what you think.
Here are a few books that I have already read that I saw on several of the must read lists. This reinforces my arrogance about my reading. On one list I had read 50% of the Top 10. I love that.
Loving Frank by Nancy Horan
The Guernsey Literary & Potato Society by Mary Ann Schaffer
The Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
1000 White Women by Jim Fergus
Sarah's Key by Tatiana deRosnay
I Capture The Castle by Dodie Smith
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick
Hotel on The Corner of Bitter & Sweet by Jamie Ford
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
Have you read any of these? All of these?

1. I tried to read The Kite Runner. It did not go well. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for that type of book.
2. I read Little Bee last month. I did not find it funny but rather sort of depressing. This was another one that took me awhile to get into.
3. Water For Elephants is in my top 10 favorites. I'm thrilled that Reese Witherspoon is playing the lead female role and utterly depressed that she'll be playing opposite Robert Pattinson. He's gross.
4. I thought The Lovely Bones was chilling yet I couldn't put it down. I started reading it on my way to Minnesota (not a great idea as the mother of two young daughters) and had three people strangers comment on how much they loved it.
5. It's been years since I read The Glass Castle, but I remember it being very good.
6. Have you considered Pillars of the Earth as a book club read? It's an Oprah book and LONG but totally worth it. Also among my top ten favorite books.
We're talking about The Glass Castle today at my book club -- it was ok but not one of my favorites. I agree with the Mrs. on Little Bee (definitely not funny, just tragic) and Water for Elephants (loved it). I'm actually a little excited about the movie -- Robert Pattinson could be ok. I didn't know Reese Witherspoon was in it, too! Mrs., try The Kite Runner again. It's a little hard to get into but then you won't be able to put it down.
Agree with both of you on Water of Elephants. I really enjoyed that book. I found the book to be dark. I do not think they will do the movie that way.
