Cleansing My Palate

Yesterday I finished another Debbie MaComber book. It is part of her Cedar Cove Series. I will not even get into describing it. I will rate it a 2. I used to really enjoy her books. Now it feels like they are not quite enough. It must be like drinking wine. There was a time I could drink cheap wine. Wine was wine. It did not particularly taste great but I drank it. Later in life I acquired the means to buy more expensive wine. I discovered they tasted better and were more satisfying. I was able to enjoy them more will I was drinking them. Now if I taste a cheap wine, I can recognize it is cheap wine. I do not enjoy it.
The same thing is happening with my reading. The more I read books of substance, the more I enjoy books of substance. Once in awhile I throw in a light read to cleanse my reading palate. The more really good books I read, the harder it is to go back to the light reads. Most of the good books do not come in mass paperback. Just like fine wine, the quality books are more expensive. Also like fine wine, they are more enjoyable. Even after I finish the book I can savour the the taste of a quality book much longer.

OL - We both moved up the food chain. Did you forget our short love affair with the Cosmo? Have you tried a sip of Boone's Farm lately?

Maybe we should throw a Boone's Farm night. See how many people really still like Boone's Farm.

Boone's Farm straight out of the bottle, that's how I rolled back in the day. When we felt like being classy we'd mix it with Mr. Misty mix (no juice) and drink it while enjoying a friend's hot tub. Needless to say, I'm down for a Boone's Farm Party.

I get more comments on my blog when I talk about booze or boys. That is odd because this is a book blog.
