Today I started our October book club read, The Brief History of The Dead by Kevin Brockmeier. Jersey Girl gave me this book over a year ago to read. She loved it and thought I would like it. For some reason, I could not get past the first chapter. The book could not hold my attention. I know I was in a reading funk at that time. When Jersey Girl picked it for our October read, I did not know how it would play out. I told myself that at least it was short. I could force myself through it for the club. Last night I started reading another book. Since The Brief History of The Dead was short, my plan was to read it next week. A few of The Page Turners told me how much they were enjoying reading the book. So, I decided I would quit putting it off and get to it.
It is so strange the way moods can affect what I read or what I enjoy. What annoyed me about the book the last time I read it this time I enjoyed. Time to close up the blog and get back to the reading. This is not something I would pick up on my own. Once again, that is what we are trying to achieve with book club.
