This morning I had some girl time with Tru Stories and her little girls. We did some after Christmas shopping. I did manage to slip a book in my cart. When I got home I read, Up From The Blue by Susan Henderson. I judged a book by the cover. It is a picture of an adorable little girl with freckles.
It is the story of Tillie Harris and her mother, Mara. Mara suffers from depression. At the time this story was written it would have been the late 60's. It was not recognized as a mental illness. Mara was lazy or was not trying hard enough.
It is a very well written story. The struggles of the poor children that have to live with the depression broke my heart. Depression is so sad. It can feel like people are just not trying. Too weak to come out of it. I really need a happy read after this book.
I am rating this book a 3.
I am almost done with a book I started last week too. Might finish that tomorrow. The question is, what should be my 100th book?
The count is: 2
