A Great Idea, On Paper

Here we are as we set out on our special Valentine's Day adventure.  Tru Stories decided that Grammy deserved to feel a day of love.  That we needed to get out of town for some bonding.  I rarely go to movies.  I have never been to the movies with the kids.  I know that is shocking.  So the perfect first movie for us would be Gnomio and Juliet.  (Notice Mrs., just a little Gnome.)  Things were still going well.
At this point we had already had our first bad encounter of the day.  There was a guy standing in front of parking spot (obviously, saving it) and talking to a car full of "ladies."  Tru Stories goes a few spaces down and pulls into another space.  Car full of "ladies" lose it.  We were suppose to know that they wanted that space too.  I say, just stay here.  There are no savies in parking lots.  Tru Stories says, in the name of not starting a fight, we will move on.  Her goodness was rewarded with a spot almost in front of the door.  Winner!  Tickets bought, 3D glasses in hand, $50 almost gone.  We are in!!!
As you can see Mrs., Tru Stories is trying to ignore our Gnome fun.  She was not being a good sport.
Here we are at the popcorn station.  That was another $30 gone.  Here is where I started remembering why I do not go to movies.  We still have hope in our hearts.
I have never been to a 3D movie.  It was amazing.  Loved it.  Unfortunately, movie had not started and Coco lost her glasses down the seats in front of us.  Tink was loving her glasses.  She mentioned things are so close.  I really wanted to be one of those dorks trying to touch the animals right in front of my face.
Our last happy picture.  Soon after this, Coco got bored.  There was no blanket to calm her.  Movie started.  I was laughing like crazy.  The Kid not wanting to share his popcorn.  That's ok.  Gnomes are cute.  We are sharing the love of Valentine's Day!
About an hour in, I start feeling sick.  Have to leave the movie.  Never to return.  Tru Stories left to fend for herself with the kids.  That did not work out great.  No lunch out.  No stop at the book store.  Special Day over.  We went home and regrouped.  I took a nap.  We met later for a nice love filled dinner.
Here is what I want to say about Gnomes.  A person has to be secure in who they are to love Gnomes.  There are three kinds of Gnome lovers.  Those that like tacky lawn ornaments.  Those that have a great sense of humor and are secure in who they are.  These Gnome lovers do not care what people think.  They look for happy things in life.  Gnomes are happy things.  (Munchkin & I fall into this category.)  The last group is those that would like to love Gnomes but are not brave enough.  You cannot look at Gnomes without feeling happy!  I dare you.
As for our disaster of movie trip, we just file it away.  We make memories.  Some are good.  Some not so much.  I love my time with Tru Stories and The Kids.  Love you all so much!  Happy Valentine's Day to some of the loves in my life.

P.S. - Best part of the day.  After dinner Uncle was playing with the girls.  He has been working hard to win Coco over.  Finally, he was able to coax her on his lap.  He helped her play dress up with the magnetic doll set.  She sat for about 20 minutes.  I would have taken a picture but we did not want to disturb their moment.  Before they left for home, Tink gave her Uncle a big Valentine's hug.  My Readers, that is why I drive 120 miles for work everyday.  Love is healing.  We did not plan that moment.  It just happened.

I can accept your dare. I looked at the stupid little gnome several times that afternoon and it never made me feel happy. It made me roll my eyes.
Side note: I loved that you put a capital G for Gnomes as if they are God.

I'm with you Page Turner - Gnomes are the best. They're rad...Tru Stories needs to loosen up. Of course Shakespeare is probably doing some twitching in his grave having Gnomes perform his masterpiece, but what the heck. Shakespeare needs to loosen up too. Gnomes are capitalized because they exist and are a known species (with their own phylum)- I thought everyone knew that. Happy Valentines Day to all.

I'm proud of you, Tru Stories. We can not encourage this behavior!

Hope you're feeling better, Page Turner!
