Sorry Old Lady

Today I broke one of Old Lady's rules.  Everyday we are suppose to, Get Up, Dress Up, and Show Up to work.  This week I have been suffering from some type of cold/sinus thing.  Got worse everyday.  Yesterday, I came home from work early.  Went to bed for a fantastic two hour nap.  Whatever this virus thing is, I am so exhausted.  This morning I woke up, ear aches, face hurt, head hurt.  I made the big decision to call out of work.  This is really not acceptable in my department.  Being ill is frowned upon.  It was a great day.  I went back to bed until 10:30.  I sat in the sunshine of my living room.  Watched shows I had recorded.  Finished a book.  Took an almost two hour nap.  Still have a headache.  Could still go back to sleep.  Probably will take another nap.  Thrilled to have finished a book.
I have been working on, Mennonite in a Little Black Dress by Rhoda Janzen.  After Rhoda turned 40 her world started going out of control.  Her husband of 15 years left her for a guy named, Bob.  The same week she was in a car accident that left her seriously injured.  She needed a place to recuperate and regroup.  She went across country to be with her family.  Rhoda was raised in a Mennonite family.  The first few chapters of this book had me laughing at loud.  Rhoda's descriptions of everything she had gone through made tears run down my face from laughter.
Rhoda was welcomed back with opened arms by her family.  Her mother was hilarious.  She gave suggestions to Rhoda like, if you date your cousin, it will help you heal.  He owned a tractor.  That made he more appealing.  Rhoda describes how she grew up.  Many of the traditions she grew up with.  Types of food they made.
The books is written with humor.  She pokes fun at her family but with respect.  It is a memoir of a terrible time in Rhoda's life.  It is about how going back to her roots helped her heal.  It is a story about her faith, family, traditions, and aging.  It is an easy read.  Interesting to read about the Mennonite traditions and beliefs.  If you are looking for a light read that will make you laugh, this is a good book.
I rate this book a 4.  That was hard for me to give a book that was such a light story.
