I was not anxious to jump into reading The Page Turner's March book. It is Room by Emma Donoghue. I thought this book would be very sad. I did not want to feel very sad right now. I picked the book up Sunday evening to do some reading. Big Mistake! At 12:30 am, Hubby was shocked to see me still up. I could not put the book down. I read on my lunch. I read during Dancing With The Stars. Finished the book last night.
This is a story about 5 year old, Jack, and his Ma. They live in the Room. Jack has never left the Room. Leaving the Room is not an option. Ma was kidnapped and has been held captive for 7 years. That is the reason I did not want to start the book. Once I started it, I could not put it down, because it was not all negative. It is a story about love. A Mother's love gave her hope to keep living. Even in a tiny Room she nurtured her child. The Room is the only home Jack knows. He is sheltered from the negative. He knows happiness in the Room. He feels safe and loved. They have a routine. He does not know he is missing an entire world of places and people. The Room is all he knows.
This is such a unique story. The story is told by Jack. I have never read anything that compares to this book. One paragraph described it as a book to read in one sitting. I sure tried. It is a work of art. I am anxious for our discussion at the meeting next week. I cannot imagine anyone not loving this story. Put it on your list of must reads!
You will have to wait until next week for my rating.

This is the book for my book club this month. I haven't started it yet, and I wasn't looking forward to it. I was also afraid that it would be sad. Now, I'm looking forward to it!
The Mc: Make sure you tell me what you think of the book after you finish it.
I have this waiting for me on my Kindle. I read the first chapter as a preview before buying and I was intrigued! Got to get through my current book though first...
