For the first time in a long while, I finished a book. Not an audio book, a real book. It was a good book. It was a book I just picked up off the table while wandering through Barnes one day. I am going to give it a strong 3. If I believed in halves, I would give it a 3.5. But I do not. It is called, The Secret Lives of Dresses by Erin McKean. The story is about Dora a soon to be college graduate. She has applied to Graduate School because she does not know where else to go. She works part-time in a Coffee Shop. She is called home when the grandmother that raised her suffers a stroke. Dora's Grandma, Mimi, owns a vintage clothing store. When she was growing up, Dora never enjoyed the store. When she gets home, she immediately takes over running the store.
Most of the story was predictable. I enjoyed it anyway. Mimi wrote secret stories about some of the dresses she sold. Dora starts wearing some of the clothes her Grandmother had been collecting for her. Dora always resisted wearing the clothing her Grandmother picked out for her. When she gets back home and starts wearing the vintage clothing she gains more understanding of Mimi's enjoyment from the shop. Of course, there is a kind, gorgeous construction guy that was a friend to her Grandmother that helps Dora through this difficult time.
I really enjoyed the light read. I had a rough week. It was great to escape into a good book. So good, I think I will start another one. I don't think I will get too far into another book. We had a great dinner out. With the drink I had a couple of glasses of wine. I will be lucky to stay awake until 10:00 tonight!
It is a cold, raining night. Perfect evening for warm pajamas and a book.

How clever with the tie-in of the Dora theme song, in the title.
