The Kid and Coach are in the middle of a long baseball season. I have not been committed as usual. Normally, I do not miss very many games. This year I just do not have it in me to make it to all the out of town games. It has been a rough year for the team. Due to the grace of opposing coaches, they have won the last two games. That gives them 3 wins. We will not talk about the losses. I will stay positive.
It is a big transition this year. It is the first year that the kids pitch. Not only are the boys learning to pitch, they
have to learn to bat against the new pitchers. They are used to coaches serving them up with easy balls to hit. What this means is we are sitting through some long games.
Tonight we were sitting through another cold game. Huddled in blankets. Teeth chattering. The moment we had been waiting for happened.
THE KID CAUGHT A FLY BALL TO CENTER FIELD!!!!! HE THREW TO SECOND FOR A DOUBLE PLAY.
My grandson is a baseball player. I am very happy!

Ummmm....
He aslo turned it into a Double Play.
Plus made 2 outs while on First Base.
Walked 3 times and got 1 hit.
Last night we asked if he had hurt anything or got a headache while he 'actually tried to play well'.... oddly, he said no. Instead 'it feels good' to play well.
Weird.
Stop it. I'm going to cry. This is what we have dreamed of.
