Tonight I went to the Willie Nelson Concert.
The first time I saw him it was at the State Fair.
We sat in the grand stands.
Now we are older.
We have the money for good seats.
Good seats are way better than grand stand seats.
We were in the 4th row, center.
It was amazing!
When I was 18, my big brother played Willie's album for me.
He said listen to this guy. He is something.
It was Willie's Red Headed Stranger album.
The Song was, Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain.
When Willie sang it tonight, I got goosebumps.
Willie is 79. Once in awhile he lost the tune.
His fingers never lost their way on the guitar.
He can pick that thing like there is no tomorrow.
Willie gets on stage and just starts playing. There was not a band before him. At exactly 7:30, Willie walked out and started playing his guitar. He did not pause between songs. He does not chat. It was 90 minutes of one song after the other. I got also got goosebumps from: Crazy, You Were Always On My Mind, and Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground. I smiled for 90 minutes. Seriously, smiled. Willie makes eye contact with people sitting close to the stage. The turn the lights up between songs and he smiles at people, winks, points at people yelling, Willie, I love you! No, I did not yell. Not out loud. In my head, I yelled it a few times. I did stand and clap. Sing along with the songs when Willie pointed to us to sing. I might have Woot, Wooted a few times.
I still LOVE me Some WILLIE!!
I also love sitting close at concerts.
There is no going back now.
Seriously, close is better.
I think Willie's new CD is one of his best. It is called Heroes. His son sings quite a few of the songs with him. His son has a great voice. Snoop Dog sings on it too. Just a few lines in one song. I have been playing the CD everyday on my way to work. Love it!
