Cheating On The Page Turners

Tonight was Tru Stories first book club at the yoga studio.  She picked the above book so that her yoga group could get more information about other types of yoga.  The yoga in the book is much more spiritual.  The meditation.  Going to Bali to study yoga. People drinking pee.  Seriously, it happens.
I did not love the book.  It was too long.  It felt like she was trying to be the anti Eat, Pray, Love book.  The character was weak and hard to relate to.  But, I knew it would be a great discussion book.  I told the group that The Page Turner's like to rate the book and the discussion.  First meeting went well.  There is room for improvement.

Here are some things I did not like about the meeting:

Everyone sat on the floor in their yoga calm.  I sat in a chair.  Completely stressed out.  Got home from work late.  Had to take Uncle to my brother's for his Tuesday night "job."  Got home in time to throw food down my throat, clean up, head to the book club meeting at 7:15pm.

Eating at the interesting restaurants is awesome.  Sitting around a table, chatting and eating.

TS did not have a list of questions.  The questions are important.  Helps the group stay focused.  Gets everyone to add something to the conversation.  Maybe TS is shooting for a free spirit, yoga thing.  I think the organization of the questions keeps the meeting flowering.

Just like The Page Turners evolved and continues to evolve, I'm sure the Yoga Book Club will also find a comfortable path.  One thing TS did that was nice was she took the time to print out some information about the book and author.  She also printed out some interesting quotes from the book.  Here is my favorite quote that really speaks to me:
When a person gives you a book to read, he's asking you to look into his soul.

I love that.  The books we enjoy, love, talk about are a reflection of something inside of us.  Something we are going through or been through.  There is a reason books touch us.  If I man ever gave me a book and asked me to read it, I would marry him immediately.  Well, first I would have to get a divorce, then I would marry him.
It is interesting to be a part of another book club.  The Page Turners will always be my first love.

Ouch.

First: It is a Yoga book club... which is why we were on Yoga Mats... following a VERY relaxing Yoga Class.

Second: Tru Stories DID have a list of questions. I mentioned as such before you got there. And Tru Stories DID ask all 10 questions off my list. I just did it in a unmilitary-like hyper organized manner... like some other Book Club must do.

Yes, you go down the list of questions and ask them. It is simple. You try to get people to answer that have not participated. Simple. Would you like me to handle this part of your meeting?

No... I do not need you to do any of it... Yoga Book club is relaxed.
