Food Day

Today was a food day for me.  Some tasty treats were brought in.  Lots of good things to eat.  People started coming by my desk for last conversations.  I did lots of laughing today with friends.  Did not accomplish much work.  Every once in a while someone would catch me working.
Old Lady came by for a chat.  I do not know if I have ever mentioned that several years ago Old Lady decided I would be her caregiver when the time comes.  Which could be next year.  Old Lady is looking forward to being pushed in a wheelchair, picking up smoking again, and being taken care of in a Nursing Home.  She has agreed to move to Dwight.  My job is to take her outside a couple of times a day for a stroll (me push her while she sits in the chair).  Old Lady will use the time away from the home to smoke.  She is very excited that the nursing home here in town allows some drinking.  Today we were talking about alsheimer's.  I mentioned that I knew people that tied their spouse to them so they could sleep at night.  Old Lady said you can tie me up at night if you need to.  I said, not to me.  The thought of the two of us wandering around town tied together gave us a huge laugh.  My Grandma used to wear dusters.  Even to the grocery store.  OL and I will add dusters to our wardrobe when the time is right.  Pockets for our kleenex and OL's smokes.
Laughed a lot today.  Hope that continues tomorrow.  Have not felt the tears coming yet.  It would be nice to get through the day without tears.  Unfortunately, do not think that will be possible.  I would be fine.  I just know some of the over emotional guys will start crying, than I will start crying.  Tina will start crying.  It is going to be all over for me.  This new phase of my life would be even better if I was bringing these people with me.

We all love you, Jane. You will be missed. But how exciting to be able to realize your dream. So happy for you.

PS: Can I join you & OL with the dusters & smokes. That would be right up my alley.
