Book Quotes

I have been researching quotes.  I love quotes from books and about reading.  Here are a few I came across:

Why can't people just sit and read books and be nice to each other?”

“No two persons ever read the same book.”  What an awesome truth.  That is why talking about books is so much fun.  We each have our own take on the story.
“I think books are like people, in the sense that they'll turn up in your life when you most need them.”   Emma Thompson    I wish this was true.  There are times I need a good back and cannot find the one I need! “Read. Read anything. Read the things they say are good for you, and the things they claim are junk. You'll find what you need to find. Just read.”  Neil Gaiman
“Sometimes they would sit in the parlor together, both reading – in entirely separate worlds, to be sure, but joined somehow. When this happened, other people in the family couldn't bring themselves to disturb them. All that could be heard in the parlor was the sound of pages, turning.”   This used to be The Kid and I.  Miss those times.

He that loves reading has everything within his reach.   True, True!

Once you have read a book you care about, some part of it is always with you.  I love this quote.

Reading is an addiction that I adore.   My name is Page Turner and I am a readaholic.

I love the book. I love the feel of a book in my hands, the compactness of it, the shape, the size. I love the feel of paper. The sound it makes when I turn a page. I love the beauty of print on paper, the patterns, the shapes, the fonts. I am astonished by the versatility and practicality of The Book. It is so simple. It is so fit for its purpose. It may give me mere content, but no e-reader will ever give me that sort of added pleasure.   I agree with this.  Unfortunately, an e-reader can give me a book in under a minute.  Much needed when there is not a Barnes & Noble in my village.

The importance of reading, for me, is that it allows you to dream.

Reading not only educates, but is relaxing and allows you to feed your imagination - reating beautiful pictures from carefully chosen words.

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.”

I have had this feeling before. Most of the time when I read a great book, I just want to find someone to talk about it with. Tomorrow night The Dream Maker is stopping by my village. We are going to have dinner and talk about the new Wally Lamb Book, We Are Water. Looking forward to that. It is like a tiny book club.

Speaking of reading, time for me to get in a few minutes of reading before I go to sleep.
