I have been obsessively reading the last few days. Real books!! Nice to hold a real book in my hands. It does make my wrists sore. (carpal tunnel) To find books to read I like to read lists of best books. In the last month one book keep coming up on every list I read. It was considered a best read of 2013. The book is, The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I figured every list could not be wrong. I started reading it today and could not stop. When I finished it was like coming out of a book coma. I feel displaced. I was so absorbed in that book.
Here are some of the descriptions and reviews of the book:
Genius...Simply devastating...Fearless in the face of powerful
Funny...Poignant...Luminous
A pitch-perfect, elegiac comedy.
This is a book that breaks your heart - not by wearing it down, but by making it bigger and bigger until it bursts.
A novel of life and death and the people caught in between. You laugh, you cry, then you come back for more.
Here is the description on the cover:
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.
There were times I laughed out loud. I wanted to cry. My heart felt broken. It is a story that makes me feel awed by John Green's ability to write such a beautiful story. I want to talk about this story. I wish a book club would walk into Coco's right now. If you have not read it, you must. When you do, send me a message about how amazing the book is. There are times when books are on all the "must read" lists they leaving me feeling disappointed. After reading this book I feel like I lost a friend. Several friends. I did not want it to end.
Obviously, I rated this book a 5. If my scale went higher, I would rate it higher.
