My Grandson, The Kid, is on a baseball team. His BFF Cousin is on the team. The two of them have a good time together. Give them an interesting book and they can read for hours. They like to sit and journal together. They love to be on the same baseball team. They are not awesome baseball players. They are young. In time, they might turn into awesome baseball players. Right now, it is hard to watch. Painful to watch. They are easily distracted. If we gave them books, they would read in the dugout. Warhol suggested I get The Kid a book on how to play baseball. He thinks it would help. Warhol is a funny guy. The BFF's like science. They want to attend science camp together this summer. Right now, they are playing baseball. Two times a week. I am the Super Grammy and I have to go to the games. Two times a week, I go to the games. I could take a book to read. There is plenty of time in between big plays to read. I think I would appear bored. Or like someone that does not like baseball.
I like baseball. One summer I attended over 75 games for my son. He was not in the pros. Just played baseball. He played baseball well. He was very intense. I enjoyed watching him play baseball. It always seemed like it would be a great time to catch up on my reading. Double headers can get very long. I would carry books with me to double headers. I rarely had time to read the books. Sitting in the sun on a baseball field is relaxing. It seems like a person could get lots of reading done. I never did.
Tonight I almost put a book in my purse before I left for the game. Next game, I think I'll take the book. Just to be optimistic. Sometimes The Kid sits out. That would be a good time to read. I will just carry the book to the rest of the games. I won't read the book. I will keep watching the kids. Hoping The Kid discovers playing baseball is almost as interesting as reading a book. Oh, and fun too!
