Monday night I was in Walmart with Tru Stories and all of her 100 children. We had been in there for a few hours and I found The Kid in the book aisle. (Yes, her kids randomly wander the store alone.) Because I have adopted a snotty book attitude, I rarely buy just plain old paperbacks. BUT, I was right in the book aisle. Weakened from being in Walmart sooooo long. I decided to take a look. SuRPrise! I found a book. Nothing deep, did not make me think. Just a great story. A unique story.
The Castaways refers to a group of eight friends. All married couples. They are close friends that vacation together, socialize together. A boating accident leaves one couple dead. The story is how the rest of the friends react to their deaths.
This is one of those easy reads I could not put down. After the deaths, secrets upon secrets are revealed. Several people feel guilt that their actions may have helped cause the deaths. It has passion, betrayal and suspense. I have enjoyed a few of Elin Hilderbrand's books. This is a good one. You won't find it on Oprah's must read list, but I am still giving it a summer read 4.
Kirby, I will have it at work on Friday.
