How To Relax

Hubby & I along with our Favorite Couple (his brother & wife), went away for a long week-end.  We had several rules.  We were going to do things we did not normally do.  We called it the "Outside Our Box" week-end.  We wanted to go somewhere low key and RELAX!!!  My rule was, no discussing my son.  FC came up with a game.  They would find something unique for us to do on the way up to Wisconsin.  We would find something to do on the way home.
We spent the night at their house on Friday night.  It was a great start for our week-end.  We had a delicious supper.  Hit the wine.  Laughed aLOT.  We were up early on Saturday morning to start our adventure.  FC kept their plan a secret until we pulled into the Apple Orchard.  Their plan was for us to pick apples.  It was fun to do.  Downside was, it was still so terribly hot and not very many apples were ready to pick.  We went off the main road to get to the orchard.  On our way to get back to a main road, we found a DOG N SUDS!!!  After a quick u-turn we were sitting in the drive-in waiting for our carhop.  It was like revisiting the 1960's.  The food was delicious.  This is not an exaggeration, I had the best corn dog of my life.  That is a huge statement and I stand behind it.  The batter was super thick.  The root beer was still delicious.  It was an original Dog n Suds that opened in 1963.  The interesting part of this is we were on our way up to Green Lake to visit a friend from my childhood.  Her family moved to Wisconsin to run a Dog n Suds.
Once again I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful scenery in Wisconsin.  Love the rolling hills.  Love all the dairy farms.  It would be a great state to live in if not for the Green Bay Packer fans and very cold winters.
More on our week-end tomorrow.
