May is my hostess month for The Page Turners. I picked Lisa Scottoline's new book, Come Home. Normally, I do not read the book club reads until the week before we meet. This month I could not wait. I started it as soon as I finished Hunger Games. This book did not disappoint me. I can't give my rating because that would ruin the fun at book club. I can tell you it is HIGH!
I really enjoy Lisa Scottoline's stories. They are unique. They are books I do not want to put down. I do not feel like it is something I have read before. I do not have the end figured out half-way through the book. There are different stories going on besides the main plot. This is the story about Jill Farrow. Her ex-husband dies. His daughter, Abby, comes to her and asks for help. Abby thinks her Dad was murdered. Abby and Jill have not seen each other since the divorce. It does not take Abby long for her Mom protective instincts to kick in. She dives head first into her ex-husband's life and death.
Jill is engaged and lives with Sam. The more Jill becomes involved with Abby, the more Sam starts pulling away. Jill has a daughter, Megan. When Abby comes back into Jill's life, Megan gets pushed to the back a bit. Mother's have to give more time to the child that has the most need. Not always the way we want it, but it happens.
I do not want to go into the story too much. I know The Page Turners will not want the story spoiled. I will say that the story touches on; Jill's career as a Pediatrician, the business of being a doctor, a sick patient, her best friend, cyber issues with teens. She covers many subjects. Keeps the story moving along.
Once again, I am usually not a huge fan of mysteries. I really like Scottoline's mysteries. They have great stories along with the mystery. If you are looking for a great read, something unique, pick up this book. Pick up any book by Lisa Scottoline. I have not been disappointed yet!!
It is a perfect reading week-end. Cool, dreary. Stay in pajamas kind of day. Enjoy! I have been.
