Re-Entry Engaged
Today I had to go into the "Big Town." Had a couple of appointments. Between appointments I stopped at the book store. I have not been there since before Christmas. I have been reading books on my Kindle. Trying to stay away from physical books. I already have too many. I walked into the store with a $25 gift card. I knew it would not be possible to stay at $25. Seeing physical books can send me into a feeding frenzy.
Here is how I work the store. I walk in and look at the sales in the entrance. When I get in the front door I go to the left. There is a table that has sale quality paperback books. Normally, they are buy 2, get 1 free. Today I decided to stay away from those. I was trying to limit my purchases. Next I went to the new releases. Working to the left I went to the shelves of suggested reads by Barnes employees. I found two books in that section. I moved over to Top Sellers. Found a book there. Went out to the main aisle. Stopped at information. Had her direct me to, "The Diary of Anne Frank." It is about time I read that book. I do not know I went this long without reading it.
Next I did something I do not usually do. I went over to the chairs and did some reading. One of the books I grabbed was a new age get in touch with the inner person. After a few pages I decided against it. I purchased three books and a cookbook. Not bad. I only went $23 over with the gift card.
I had time to start reading in the Doctor's office. The book I started with is, Wave by Sonali Deraniyagala. She is a survivor of the Sri Lanka Tsunami. My appointment went long so I was able to get into the book. It is very good. Heart wrenching. Having a book reminds me of how much I miss reading real books. Buying and reading books brings me so much more joy than reading on my Kindle.
I am coming to the end of my hiatus from life. Monday I return to work. I only have three days left. I will miss hiding out at home. Unfortunately, I need to get back to work. Sounds like The OL needs me. She needs to make contact with at least one person that remembers that TV's were once black & white. A person that forgets where she was walking and what she was walking to get at least once a day. A person that shares the understanding that Alice can sometimes feel too real to both of us. Anyway, OL says there is a new place near the office we need to try for lunch. See you in a few days OL.
My sister in law came through her surgery today with no problems. She is a bit uncomfortable. Now we all have our eyes on the prize. On April 25th she gets the implant turned on or tuned in. We are all so excited!!! Counting the days.
