Most of the day today was quiet at work. As soon as I got to work, I got my flu shot. Last year I had a bit of reaction to the shot. Fingers crossed that does not happen this year! We also had to attend the yearly United Way meeting. It used to be mandatory. They used to almost force us to give. Now there is less pressure. I am not opposed to helping those in need. I am just not sure United Way is what I want to do. They have some very specific organizations they help. Anyway, that was part of our day today. It was fairly quiet in our row while we put our fingers to the key boards and tried to get some work done. Once in awhile it happens.
Later in the afternoon e-mails started getting sent around about Bosses Day. I am somewhat of the organizer on our team. Usually, someone reminds me when it is and I send out e-mails. So P Whitty sent out the reminder. I sent a quick e-mail that said something like, what do you think about Bosses Day or doing something for Bosses Day. I got the greatest reply from The Doctor.
Boss' Day is a ridiculous made up holiday - invented so the rich keep getting richer...and making us minions think we have to praise those above us.
Oh, and a gift card sounds good to me.

A few of the boys are super funny. Especially, Willy and The Doctor. Right now we are on a very morbid kick of discussing how mean chimps are. A chimps first line of defense is they will eat their attacker's fingers off. They will also chew off faces. I know what you are thinking........how is this funny? Well it can be very funny in certain conversations.
You might not want to let your children watch the show, When Animals Attack, on Friday night. It is not a warm and fuzzy show. It is also how our chimp talk got started today. If you saw the caption, "Travis the chimp's 911 call" wouldn't you picture a cute little chimp in shorts and a shirt dialing 911 to call for help? If so, you will be shocked to watch and listen to what that little clip is all about. Once again, not for children. That said, my sick work friends and I will probably all watch the show on Friday night. If we can't watch it, we will DVR it.

Our cubicles are not private. Not private at all. I think there are some unwritten cubicle rules. Most people get the rules. Skinny, short for Skinny New Guy, we even shorten it more to SNG - does not get personal space. He is not a close talker. But he will randomly enter someones space and stand there looking. Some of the cubicle rules would be: Do not walk up behind someone and look over their shoulder at their computer screen. It is best to enter a person's space where they can see you. If you do not have something to say, do not stand at the entrance of a person's cube and stare. (You know I'm talking to you Skinny.) Our cubes are very little. There is no reason to enter another person's space unless you are helping them with a work question on their computer screen, need to speak softly while talking about something inappropriate or need to get close enough to read something on their computer. The best thing to do is look at a cubicle as an office with pretend walls and a door. You cannot just walk through a wall. You would not walk in someones office if the door was closed without knocking.

Have you ever been in the bathroom and heard someone in a stall talking on the phone? The phone did not ring. They dialed out. Seriously! They are having a serious phone conversation with the tinkling sound in the background and toilets flushing. It is like they cannot even spend a quiet few minutes in the bathroom without using the phone. Someone on my team does this. Obviously, it is not one of the boys. You know I'm looking at you........P Whitty.

Why Aren't You Blogging About Books?
Last week I talked about the boys. They sit around me. One of the other main characters in my days at work is the Old Lady. In the past the OL and I were on the same team. Now we do not sit near each other. We are of the same generation. She makes me laugh. She laughs at my jokes. We have seen each other through some tough things in life. She is a calm in the storm. A rock. She has great sayings like, To have a friend you must be a friend." Old Lady loves, Dancing With The Stars, Prince Poppycock and reality TV. She might love cough medicine a bit too much but that is another story. She also loves blogs. Maybe a little too much.
Old Lady, might be blurring fantasy with reality. At this point I do not think any of you need to worry about restraining orders. (At this point.) Today she mentioned a family reunion would be nice. She means with the fans and the bloggers. Now there are a couple of problems with that statement. First, the obvious, we are not all family. Many of us have some type of tie with Tru Stories. She is the common denominator. My second point is, reunion implies we have all met at least once. Old Lady is not in this alone. Easy Rider is in on the planning. Old Lady has taken the time to scrutinize all the pictures on all the blogs. If she does not know who someone is, she makes it her business to find out. OL loves this stuff. This is one big reality TV show for her. Easy Rider is still trying to find herself. That keeps her busy. She does not have as much time to obsess on blogs. OL knows who she is. She is a woman with time on her hands. Time for blogs.
Old Lady has a thing for Munchkin. I think she would like to adopt her. She worries when Munchkin does not blog for awhile. She was very proud when Munchkin graduated. She probably fancies them Soul Sisters of different generations. OL is short in stature. There was a time in her life she partied hard. Most importantly, they both share a passion for pharmacies.
OL is also a big fan of Flag Girls. She has seen pictures of Flag Girl and you have to love Flag Girl's sweet face. Old Lady has met Tru Story and her family. She has even been at Tru Stories house. That takes away some of the magic. She would love it if there was daily Tink talk in Tru Stories blog.
For whatever reason, I know it is OCH and her cast of characters Old Lady really wants to meet. She needs to have a conversation with not just the immediate family but even the people that comment. It would help her put faces with blog names.
I know a secret about OL. Well, I know many secrets about OL. Here is one I can share on the blog. Old Lady fancies herself an expert wedding cake cutter. She would also like to be a bridesmaid. What does this mean? This winter at the BIG dance, Old Lady and Easy Rider's dreams could come true. Tru Stories better print extra tickets. Then again, there the softball game is only a few weeks away! Maybe I should make a plea to the boys to come show their stuff on the softball field. OL and her gang could be #1 Fans.
Now you can think about restraining orders.

How Far Will I Go
It appears that my Cube Talk segment was very popular. Many comments were made. I am going to pretend that any office talk will generate just as much interest as Cube Mate talk. I am not sure that I can do a weekly blog on The Boys just to pull in readership. I do not think I mentioned their BIG FAT EGOS. Well, really it is just Stormie that has the HUUUUGE ego. His ego can and does spill over to the other cubicles.
Just saying.
Just saying.

Life In My Cube

Here is something shocking I learned today. The boys at work do not want to read my blog if it is about books. Though, one of the boys is a reader. They will read the blog if it is about them. What I have learned from other bloggers is you have to market your blog. So, I think I might do some Cube Talk once in awhile. Not too much. The boys already think highly of themselves. There are seven other people on my team besides the boys. They are further away from where I sit. They might work their way into the blog.
Anyway, Flag Girl, you are so right. No need to imagine them hot, here are some of their pictures. That's right, all this and I get paid too. Who wins the lottery everyday when they go to work? That's right, I do.
Blog names were hard for this bunch. The weather guy will by Stormie Weather, Stormie for short. I really wanted to stay away from the obvious......but I am going to go with The Doctor. The Doctor was premed when he started college. Life got in the way of that. To finish out the trio I'm thinking Diego. Too much? Fine, I'll give you Willie but not sure you are worthy.
I will probably only be able to remember bits and pieces of what goes on. We do get some work done during the day. It can get in the way of our fun. The Old Lady likes to refer to the row we are in as "The Street." She lives in CSA Alley and comes to visit The Street to see what is happening. We are on opposite sides of the room.
FYI: We are allowed to get up and move about. No bells ring or anything. Just not all the time. We have work goals to complete.
Not sure how it came about, yesterday Willie changed the name of our street to: The Boulevard of Broken Dreams. We love that! That is the kind of thing we run with. Love it! Once in awhile we head over to Sorrow & Disappointment, not often. That team can be major DOWNERS. That was one of the high points of our week. Seriously!
Let me give you a brief description of each of the boys.
The Elder of the boys is, The Doctor. He is very bright. We count on him for interesting facts and conversation. He googles when we need answers. Most importantlywe take our injuries and illnesses to him. He takes it one step further than Web MD. Obviously, he is very important to the team. He recently lost major, major weight. He is wasting away.
Willie is next in line. He sits right next to me. He is a Reality TV Junkie. Now all of us watch some Reality TV, Willie takes it to the next level. Like any good Junkie, he puts the blame elsewhere. He blames his wife for all the poor TV he watches. He is our singer. He is also a great story teller. When needed he will girl talk with me. I'm not going to lie, he will never be a BFF.
The baby of the group is Stormie. He talks weather. He also helps me with my phone, and ipod. He fancies himself a ladies man. I just don't get it. He is not that cute. Not super smart by any means. I just don't see the attraction. He is not much of a reader either. Willie if you read this to Stormie leave out those lines that he might take as insulting. Thanks.
Millhouse will want some mention. She used to be my BFF, my soul mate of another generation. She fell in love and moved several states away to another time zone. Now we communicate through text messages and e-mail. We share the passion for reading, sarcasm, and laughter. She just became a Mommy to the most beautiful little boy!
Gang, I hope you enjoy this. I have escaped my cube for one day. Attending a seminar on retirement. Not going to lie, if it gets me away from my cube I will sign DNR papers tomorrow. I will stop by to check my e-mail. We have big things going on in Page Turners. I need to be kept up to date.
If you are reading this post, you need to be a follower. I'm talking to you boys.
