I Did Not Love Frank, But I Loved This Book......

This is one of the best books I read in 2009. It was recommended to me by a teacher I had in high school. Whenever I run into her, I ask for book suggestions. She never lets me down, Loving Frank, by Nancy Horan was another example of her great suggestions.

It is a book about Frank Lloyd Wright's mistress, Mamah Borthwick Cheney. I only knew the basics about Frank Lloyd Wright. He designed houses. He lived in Oak Park for awhile. I have seen a couple of houses he designed. There is a house and a bank in my town that were Frank Lloyd Wright designs. Having been to Oak Park helped me visualize parts of the book. It is a beautiful town with huge old houses, big trees lining the streets, and beautiful front yard gardens.

It is not a quick read. It is well written. Flows well. It presents a good historical account of Frank's life within a great story. It was a surprise to me that I felt empathy for his mistress. The story is about the choice his mistress makes. What she gives up. Her struggle to find happiness.

If you want to expand your reading to a more difficult level, this is a good book to start with. I rated it a 5. Hope you love it as much as I did.
