I have only been blogging for a couple of weeks. I already feel so many benefits from the blogging experience. The main reason I started blogging was to have an excuse to continue talking after book club ends. When I walk out of book club, I still have thoughts to share about whatever we read. One of the many benefits of reading is that it seems to open the door for communication. While I wait for my doctor, I always read. She will come in sit down and discuss books with me. Before she gives me a prescription, she will give me a slip of paper with reading suggestions on it. She also walks out with a list from me. What a great bond to have with someone that I trust to help keep me healthy. The surgeon that operated on my hands, same thing. We always talk books first, hands next. Starting a book club at work has started pockets of book discussions all over the place. Most of us do not lunch together, take breaks together, or hang out in general. Except for once a month. That night we share the same passion. We all look forward to dinner and a great discussion. Open a book and the discussions flow.
Same concept for starting a blog about books. I started writing about books and it results in more discussions. People e-mail me, make comments on my blog. One of my favorite bloggers, Munchkin, (shout out to the little people) discovered what reading can do for a blog. She wrote a short blog about what she was reading, the comments are still coming. Readers love to share their thoughts on what they have read, want to read, or are already reading.
Makes sense when you think about it. Readers love words. Books open the world for us. It is all about communicating. So if you are taking the time to read my blog, take it one step further, comment. Love to hear what you are reading, want to read, or have already read.
