A Confession

I am the Page Turner and today I need to confess that I saw a Sony E-Reader for sale and was tempted. More than tempted. I sent an e-mail to ask some questions. Here is the thing, it is a good price. Someone is selling one they got as a gift and never used. Did I say it was a good price? It was. I was also going to try to negotiate an even better deal. Nothing happened. I did not even make an offer.
There was an intervention staged. A petition signed by some of the book club. The amazing thing is the book club was able to find time during their busy day to find some major authors to sign the petition. Debbie Macomber, Nicholas Sparks, they even had authors that are no longer with us. The book club feels that I crossed the line when I started listening to audio books in the car. That is interesting considering these two members happened to "LISTEN" to at least one of our monthly book club books. A line I have not and will not cross. At least with an e-reader I would still be READING my books. They would just not be on paper.
Let me give some pros to having an e-reader:
I would not have to carry around 1-2 books all the time
With all my hand & wrist issues an e-reader is much lighter than books, less stress to my hands
It would save me at least $4.00 a book, sometimes more,by downloading my books
There would not be books laying all over my house
Plenty of storage for my books
Cutting edge cool with fancy electronics
Cons for not buying an e-reader:
Selling my passion for books to the electronic devil
All my book pals that look up to me as a Queen Reader will be disappointed in me
Barnes and Noble would go out of business, or at least have to downsize
Hard to judge books by their cover on-line
I like to touch books (I even like to smell books.)
Books look great on my book shelves
If I am not turning pages, I will have to change my blog name
Would have to change the name of our book club to e-readers and audio listeners
Someone has to take the high ground and not succumb to change just because it is awesome
The petition had at least twenty names (some were not even forged)
Right now the clear winner is books. Looks like I am going to have to hang on to my principles a little longer. I will put the e-reader on the back shelf (so to speak). Unless, I find an e-reader so cheap they are almost giving it away. Come on people, a deal is a deal.

Terrible. Really. I would like to sign the petition. I don't even have an IPOD or Central Air Conditioning. You are for sure not going to turn so Tech Savy that you can't read a real book.
Not a fan.
Cute post.
poor Subject.

OMG, Tru Stories! You don't have central a/c? I may have to pull my RSVP for three for Saturday's luncheon.

I'm sorry to hijack your e-reader post Button Pusher, I mean Page Turner, but I am amazed at how your daughter is able to live in such conditions. No dry, cool air to keep her six thousand children comfortable as they sleep? Unbelievable!

I'm sorry Mrs. we are to blame for her condition. Until we moved to Dwight we did not have central air conditioning. (We now use it from like April-November.) She lives in her Grandparent's house, they lived without it. I can handle heat, not humidity. She needs her window units in the house, now. Before the luncheon.
HB - do not ever say Twilight to me again!!!!
Old Lady - sign up as a follower. Really!!!!

Tru Stories - Welcome to my blog. Nice to see you take time out from your busy, busy life to comment on my blog. You live like Little House on The Prairie, you do not get to talk electronics to me. Maybe when you get your ipod.

I signed the petition but I was on the fence about it. I may be swayed in favor of the e-reader for you afte reading this post.
