I'm So Old

There is something wrong with my thumb. This is in addition to the fact that I had carpal tunnel surgery on both hands in the past year. I went to the doctor, my orthopedic doctor. We are sit down and chat friends now. He said how did you injure it. They always ask that. "They" are always younger. "They" don't know we can become injured in our sleep. I said, I woke up like this. It is a nerve problem. It is pinched at the base of my thumb. I get shock waves all the way up to the tip of my thumb. The tip of my thumb feels numb. It always feels like it is just coming out of being asleep. Except for when it has shooting pains.
My doctor said it is called bowler's thumb. I probably paid lots of money for him to call it that. I said I do not bowl. I have never bowled. We are treating it with Advil. We are also doing "wait and see" what happens. There is a cyst at the base of my thumb pinching the nerve. If it does not get better, it might need surgery.
I tell you this, not to complain, just to explain that after a certain age, it appears bodies fall apart. It makes sense. Cars fall apart after many miles. My dishwasher does not work as well as it used to. We had to get a new furnace last year. Things need maintenance. I hurt my back bad once from reaching down to pick up my purse. I know people that have pulled muscles getting out of bed. These people are of "that" age.
So I am not a bowler. I just have a cyst in my thumb. It is annoying. I am not concerned. It is just the next thing. Not a big deal. Better than knees or hips or worse yet, heart. It is just a thumb.
Stay tuned........
