Miracle on the 17th Green

The other morning on my way to work I had to stop at Walmart for my Hawaiian shirt. Nothing better than shopping at Walmart at 6:45 am. I had no intention of looking at books, just happened to walk down the book aisle. It happens. I needed to get from Point A to Point B, just happened to be down the book aisle. Even walking at a quick pace, the new James Patterson book jumped out at me. Most books that have recently hit the shelves tend to do that for me. Saves time. It was a cute little book, just had to grab it. I do not like all James Patterson books. I do like his sweet books like, Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas, Sam's Letters to Jennifer.
This is a book he co-wrote with Peter DeJonge. Maybe not co-wrote. From what I read the idea of the story was James Patterson's, it was written by Peter Dejonge. It was originally written to be a movie. It reads like it was made to be a movie. Still a cute story.
This is a very quick read. I read it in a little over two hours. I read fast. If you read at a normal pace, it would still be an evening read. I am not going to call it a "must read." A good book to check out of the library, maybe listen to on audio.
It is described as a novel about life, love, family, miracles and golf. Heavy emphasis on golf. I only have less than basic golf knowledge. Some of the golf details bored me. If you enjoy golf, you will probably enjoy the golf analogy to life. The basic story is 50 yr old man loses his boring job and goes for his dream of being a pro golfer on the senior tour. That is easy to identify with. Story could be 50 something woman quits her pathetic life in claims and opens her bookstore/coffee shop. And they live happily ever after.
I can only give this book a rating of 3. Very hard to compare any fluff book to The Help! If you only like to read fluff books and you like golf, this could be your 5.
