This is Tink at the Depot bench that people hate. Here is a quote, "Frank Lloyd Wright would be rolling over in his grave." Drama much? I think so.
So here is the story. I am in a group to help improve our town. We fancy ourselves to be a grass roots organization. We have specific goals and improvements to work on. But, if someone comes to us with a suggestion or idea, we figure out how to get it done. Some of the other organizations will discuss things to death. Or say, we tried that once it would not work. Always with the excuses and negative energy. Our group was given a $50,000 donation to landscape around our "historic" depot. When we started this "historic" depot was surrounded with asphalt, overgrown bushes and wild trees. One slat bench that was cracked. Not beautiful at all. The people that use the train cannot get inside. It is no longer used as a depot. There was no place for people to get out of the cold.
We did a huge flower bed & bushes. So beautiful. We put paving blocks down. There were two flower bed/benches built. For the people to sit out of the cold they built a big bench with sides to block the wind. Done. We were not in love with the bench, but it had a purpose. We did love everything else. Looked 100% better.
We have been attacked by the Historical Preservation society that was created after our project was finished. Now most of it might have to come down. Fun stuff. Very disappointing. We are a positive group that gets things done. This was a huge disappointment. We will lick our wounds for awhile, then get back at it.
Tru Stories posted this saying for us:
Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve on the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope. Robert F. Kennedy
I love it. I think it is something we all need to keep in mind during change. Little bit of a thinker today.

I have two quotes for you both from Winston Churchhill..
"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life"
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts"
Don't let these people steal your sunshine and keep making the town beautiful.
This is my quote....
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all....OL
And this is my quote,
"To those who criticize the hard work of others without putting forth effort of their own - SUCK IT!"
Keep on keepin' on, Page Turner. I look forward to seeing the hard work of many dedicated citizens when I'm in town next weekend.
Mrs. if the Village Board does not vote our way, the structures could be gone by Harvest Days. ):
Also, LOVE the quotes. I think Suck It is a term that just does not get used enough. Thanks everyone.
I am going to have to look more deeply into Winston Churchill, he has fantastic quotes.
Is it Winston Churchill or Alfred Hitchcock, I can never keep them straight.....????????
