Even during the excitement of the biggest social event of the year, I have managed to keep up with my reading. Lesson learned last year. I will not want until the last minute to meet my reading goal. My goal this year is two books a week. I am over my goal for the month of January.
I am very excited about the quality of books I have read this year. It is easier to stay motivated to read when I have good books. The Old Lady gave me a tiny journal type book. I have turned it into my place to keep my must read book list. Easy to carry in my purse. Whenever I find myself in a book store, I just pull out the list. I never seem to get to all the books on my list. Last week I figured out why. Even with the list in my hand, I can become easily distracted. It was a good distraction, but still not on my list.
I picked up, Life Without Summer by Lynn Griffin. The first thing I noticed about all the books I bought is they were all so SAD!! I am not sure why so many good books are tragic. That does not stop me from picking the books up!
This book was about a mother coping with the loss of her 4 year old daughter. She was killed by a hit and run driver. What makes the story unique is that it was written through the Mother's journal. It is also written through the Counselor's journal. It was such an interesting way to tell the story.
When I logged this book in my journal, I rated it a 5. When I started writing the blog I realized it could not be a 5. I figured out the ending of the book very early in the story. I had to take points off for that. I still stayed interested in the book. It was good from the first page to the last page. I recommend this if you want a uniquely told story.
I rate the book a 4.

so when you change your ratings do you change it in the book?
