The Old Lady Meets Munchkin!
the event. Getting Old Lady to agree to come was HUGE! She values her down town at home on the week-end. She is not opposed to a two day marathon event of hanging out in her jammies. (Insert like button here, and I will hit it.) What convinced Old Lady to come was she was ready to meet some of her favorite blog subjects. After convincing the Old Lady, I thought, well Easy Rider is always looking for an adventure, and thought to ask her. My Girl T does not come up in the blog very often, but she is a part of my daily work life. She decided to make the trip too. She had attended the very first Relay For Life Dance and had a great time. In the first picture we have, My Girl T, The Old Lady, Myself, and Easy Rider.
We met at my house where the Old Lady immediately started checking out my Hubby. She likes a guy with a Pony Tail, and they share a hobby.
We had to take their picture together because Old Lady loved their size difference.
Tru Stories is the heart of this story. She is the creator of the Relay event. She puts hours and hours into the planning. She loves this event so much she will take the dreaded shots to make herself feel better without the Mothers nagging at her.
Tru Stories also introduced me to the One Carbon Hill blog where I was able to "meet" the other part of Coach's family. Eventually, the Mrs. convinced Tru Stories she needed to have her own blog. I would tell friends about things happening in blog world and soon they were immersed. My Girl T, not as much as the rest of us.
I am a reader. I think this is a love story. First Coach and Tru Stories. Tru Stories likes to give Coach a hard time for blog material. Don't let it fool you. She is his biggest fan. (Well right behind Coach's Dad, Grandpa.) When Tru Stories throws out her signature "Heart" them, she is really serious. This group Hearts each other up. I think that is part of the allure of reading the blogs. These bloggers love their spouses, love their kids, their siblings, parents, cousins, cousin in laws, and friends. We followers love to get a peek in at this big happy family. We read about their ups and their downs. It is a reality TV show through words and pictures.
The odd thing is some of the people I work with are huge blog fans without having met the cast of characters. It was exciting for me to get to know the blog people as real people. It is not a disappointment to meet any of these people. Like when a crazy fan would finally get to meet their favorite TV star and think, they did not seem like that at all on TV.
The first person Old Lady met was Flag Girl. I did not get a picture of that moment. It was great. They hugged like old friends. Flag Girl was with Doc so she also met Doc. That was a shock to the Old Lady. In her mind Doc was a man. Do not ask me how this occurred. We had many conversations about how beautiful both of Coach's sisters were. She saw her picture all the time. Not sure what she thought Doc's blog name was. Now Old Lady will be back on the blog reading about Doc to see what she missed.
Old Lady was anxious to meet Munchkin. Everyone is a big fan of Munchkin. I think they would be two peas in a pod. Two peas looking for trouble!! The Old Lady is very intrigued by Munchkin's very impressive career. Not for the right reasons. Easy Rider is very impressed by all that Munchkin has accomplished in her short (sorry!) life.
You know the Old Lady wanted to meet the Mrs. She started us all on our blog trail. She also wanted to meet an infrequent guest on the OCH blog, You Can Call Me Al. She was shocked to find out You Can Call Me Al is a very beautiful Mom of 6. You could have knocked her down with a feather. Once again, Old Lady had no idea Al was a woman. The star of the evening for The Old Lady was Frankenstein. Or as she started calling him, Frank. She developed a bit of a crush. At times she was stalking him. Finally, she pretended to be interested in the Mrs. to sneak in for this picture.
It really was a fantastic evening. Obviously, the event is wonderful. We sat and people watched, did some dancing, some drinking, (could have been more than a little drinking for some of us, T?). Listening to people address each other by blog names was hilarious. I loved sharing my family with my friends. So much laughter. A great memory! Think the blog followers will enjoy reading even more now that they can put faces to "names."
I was able to have some one on one time with, You Can Call Me Al. I am sure she could write an amazing blog. She is the mother of 6 children, 14 yrs old and down. Her husband is off serving our country while she keeps the home fire burning. She is upbeat. She stayed at the event until it was over. Very impressive to talk to someone so down to earth. I am in awe!
I know my Page Turner friends enjoyed their evening. I hope this becomes a yearly event. They make a great night even better.
Thanks for coming girls!

I have no idea why anyone would think that about Doc. Her pretty pic is on all the time. I call her our family Homecoming Queen and she adds 47oo exclamation points to all of her
Comments. Maybe I should rework her blog name.
And for Bleep Sake Flag Girl... do NOT encourage the pony tail. Yuck.
Thank you very much to you and your beautiful blog friends for the clean up help! The "wedding" was soo much fun!!! The catering service was the BEST!!
I've known "You can call me Al" for a long time and she truly is amazing! Just like her sister Munchkin (who should really be Doc).

Thank you for the kind words. It was fun to meet the Page Turner groupies. I told "Old Lady" that I don't think I can call her that to her face; I agree w/Flag Girl, she's not old at all.
Loved the hors d'oeuvres & the aprons!
It was so much fun to meet everyone! You guys are such an awesome family and so sweet too. It was awesome to catch a glimpse of how much fun you guys have.
Meeting the fans of the blogs was one of the highlights of the evening, right behind the flash mob dance. Maybe next time we meet I won't have green skin.
