Here is another reason The Page Turner's are awesome, they make me read things I would not read on my own!! The Bookkeeper picked The Hunger Games for our April read. It was not what I thought it would be. At all!! Over the week-end I finally finished the other two books.
My favorite was BY FAR the second book, whatever it is called. I soaked that up so quickly. I could not put it down. It was so good. I found Mockingjay the hardest to read. It did not flow as well with me. Seemed more forced. I was Team Peeta so some of the developments in the last book did not sit well with me.
I was at a party the other day talking about the books. Someone said I don't think I would like them. I said, exactly what I thought! Not true at all. Somehow the story manages to make the fact it is kids killing kids not as gruesome as I thought it would be. If you are in the club, The Last People on Earth To Read The Hunger Games, give it a try. You might be surprised.
Normally, I am not a fan of Sci-Fi type books. About once a year I read one or two and end up enjoying them. It can be a nice change from the usual stuff. I think that is why I enjoyed The Hunger Game series so much. I never knew what to expect. I did not know what was coming next. It is nice to be surprised by how the story goes. Most of the time it is worth it to stretch my reading to something new.
Good Series. Honestly, I do not feel the need to run to the movie. I might watch it when it comes out on DVD. I already watched it in my mind when I read it. I am sure the movie cannot be too different from that!
I am going to give the series a 4.
