I am not going to pretend there were not some downsides to 2012. We were able to overcome the rough spots and fit in some great times.
My favorite memory has to be my trip to Savannah, Georgia with Tru Stories and the kids. It was one of the places I wanted to visit for years. Staying on Tybee Island and walking to the beach everyday was a fantastic bonus. Watching The Kid love the Ocean was great to share. In addition to visiting a place I have wanted to see for years was sharing it with my daughter. We had a great trip together. There were more than a few times that we laughed until we had tears. I can do all my future beach trips with TS and leave my beach hating Hubby at home.
It was also our year to vacation with Hubby's family. We took the three kids with us to Missouri and Arkansas. Eureka Springs was a surprise. So much to see.
We ended the summer with our Labor Day Trip to Wisconsin. I enjoy spending time with my friend and her family. I love being on the lake. Bonus is vacationing with Hubby's brother and his wife. They are not just family, they are friends. We always have a good time traveling with them.
I will say that I enjoyed the fact the winter was mild. It is not fun to commute in snow, drifting snow, ice, and fog. I know we need precipitation. I will happily take it in the form of rain.
It was a good baseball season. The Kid started to find his place in the game. Better than baseball is basketball. He is really starting to play some basketball.
Everything about The Kid's new school has been a joy. Watching him find his confidence and groove has been wonderful.
Getting my Sassy. I have found so much joy in this tiny little bundle. She makes me laugh. I can baby her. She cuddles. Great at the end of the day to come home to Sassy. Watching Coco fall in love with Sassy has been fun and irritating.
Watched The Page Turners continue to evolve. Some people have moved on. We have added new members. We read a few great books. We ate some awesome meals. Our meetings never disappoint.
Did not make my book goal. I'll talk about that in my next blog. Read some good books, and a few stinko books.
I really feel like I have been able to reach people about mental illness. Talking about my son's illness can be difficult. There are people that seem uncomfortable when I try to discuss mental illness. They give me the impression that we must have failed somehow to have a mentally ill son. Overall, between TS and I talking about the trials we face, we are able to educate people about mental illness. I want people to know the schizophrenia does not always been It can also be an Uncle that will sit down and play Barbie dolls with his sweet nieces. The experiences we had in 2012 educated us in so many ways.
We spent a few relaxing nights on the Mansion Patio listening to Coco and her band sing. Sitting on the Patio listening to music is one of my favorite things to do in the summer.
Next year when I blog about 2013, I know there will so many things to talk about. I hope to be writing about all the goals I reached. I hope one of my goals was not to stay up to ring in 2013. I do not think I'm going to make it. I hear my bed calling me already. Not a big deal. The new year will come even if I go to bed.
Happy, Happy New Year!!
