Book Review 2012

I did not make my reading goal in 2012.  In the past that would have caused me to obsess and read non-stop.  This year I realized it was not going to happen.  I had so many other things to stress about, not making a reading goal did not make the top 10 list.  I wanted to read over 100 books.  I read 74 books.  I have two others I am currently reading that I am about 75% complete.  They will not make the cut.  I went through several periods where I just could not read.  Did not have the concentration.  No book could keep my interest.

Here is a recap of the books I read and gave the highest rating of a 5:

1.  Jacqueline Kennedy - Historic Conversations On Her Life (These were audio)

2.  What I Thought I Knew by Alice Eve Cohen

3.  Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

4.  Book Two of The Hunger Game Series, Catching Fire

5.  Dancing On Broken Glass by Ka Hancock

6.  The Dry Grass of August

7.  Crazy by Pete Earley

Does this list seem short?  I rated many books a 4.  Not sure what the fine line is between 4 and 5.  I think my mood can be a big factor.  If I reread some of the books I rated 4 I would guess they could drop to a 3 or jump to a 5.

I could use a great light read right now.  Need to finish my Yoga Book Club read and hope to find something fun.  I am not setting a reading goal for next year.  I assume if I take some time off work reading will happen more often.

If you have any suggestions of books you think I should read next year, let me know.  Hope you are all curled up with good books today.  Relaxing after the crazy holiday stress.  Happy 2013!

I finished Oprah's latest recommendation, "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie", just before Christmas. Not exactly what I'd consider a light read, but I thought it was good. "Gone Girl" is also NOT a light read but i LOVED it.

Here's to more great reading in 2013!

The Page Turners are reading Gone Girl in December. I was hoping it was light. I have looked at The Twelve Tribes of Hattie a few times. I will put it on my list.

I mean January, not December.
