Outside The Box

It is only Tuesday and I am having this fantastic week.  I am trying to make sure I take the time to find joy in my life.  I can easily hibernate with a blankie.  Hubby is anti-social and that in turn makes me stay home too much.  Not anymore.  Sunday night I went to a gospel concert.  WOW!  It was amazing.  I really enjoyed it.  Great start to the week.
Tonight I attended my first meeting of The Women's Club.  I decided to join it to get out amongst more people.  Figured it can only help my business and get me involved in more civic projects.  Tonight after the business portion of the meeting, there was a presentation by an author.  A New York Times best selling author.  She lived in a small town near here.  She writes mysteries and her books are mass paperbacks.  I rarely read mysteries.  I listened to her talk.  She was very funny.  Her novels are humorous.  I decided to give her books a read.  There was a door prize.  I had a feeling when I signed up for it I was going to win.  Normally, I never win things.  I knew I would tonight.  I was right.  I could pick one of her books.  I picked the first in her series.  I bought the second book.  There are 16 books in the series.  She signed both books.  Too much fun.  It will be more exciting if I love the books.
Her name is Denise Swanson.  Her series is called, The Scumble River series.  Her talk was great.  She explained how she develops the books.  All the books are based on something from her life.  She was a school psychologist for 22 years.  She picks the subject for the book.  Next she completes a psychological get to know you type interview with every character in the book.  That gives her in depth knowledge of the characters.  Next she uses a system to develop the plot.  I enjoyed listening to her talk.  She spoke for about an hour.
Tomorrow I will read the first book in the series.  Probably the second book too!  I will do a review when I am done.
