Page Turner Meeting

Last night five of The Page Turners got together for our not so monthly meeting.  Earlier in the day, I mentioned it was going to be my last meeting.  People were upset.  They at least want one more meeting to celebrate the anniversary of The Page Turners.  There were other suggestions about meeting quarterly instead of monthly.  We are going to meet next month.  Everything else is in the discussion stage.
It seems like the last year we have not been the club we once were.  People are busier. We had five in attendance at the meeting. We should have discussed two books.  The September book only one person at the meeting read.  The person that picked the September book was not at the meeting.  Only three out of the five people read October's book.  One did not finish it.  Two finished it but could not remember enough of the book to discuss it.  I was one of the two.  That was an eye opener for me.  I think reading on The Kindle does not stick in my mind as much as reading the real book.  Book Club books are going to have to be physical books.  That might help me.  It makes it easier to reread passages I enjoyed.  Refer back to the passages during discussion.  The Kindle might be easier and less expensive, but we do not get as much from reading that way.
We have not picked our book for November.  We are going to have people make suggestions and pick our book from that.  Not sure what will happen after the November meeting.  We still enjoy getting together to chat.  Maybe we will turn from books to a social club.
