One of my many nieces had something on facebook today about taking the time to work on her Fruits of Spirit. It sounded like something all of us could stand to do. Maybe at work we could have a Fruits of Spirit Wheel. Spin it and see what to emphasize each day. I think I will pick one a day to work on.
Here are the fruits of spirit: joy, love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There are fruits to go with each spirit. Love is the strawberry. Joy is the pineapple. The description said, think of the smell. I am not sure pineapple smells like joy. Watermelon is peace (play on word of piece). I think I could have done better with the fruit picks! Patience is lemon because you must eat it slowly. That makes sense. That is my favorite one so far. Gentleness is a peach because it is so soft. That one also makes sense. It bruises easily. The banana is goodness because it is a child's favorite fruit. Faith is the cherry. They grow with two on each stem. Kindness is grapes. They are easy to share. I like that. Grapes are probably the fruit people share the most. Apple is self-control because of the Garden of Eden. That is an obvious one.
I think I would have used orange as joy. When someone peels an orange it is always an uplifting scent. There is a perfume called joy. I wonder if a fruit scent is part of that formula.
Tomorrow I am going to work on joy. I will let you know how that goes.
Today is my 35th wedding anniversary! It feels like yesterday. It was a simple wedding. We really did not want anything fancy. We were so anxious to start our lives together. We had a tiny (with emphasis on tiny) apartment. It was right on campus at ISU. We loved it. It felt so cozy. We were so young. Anxious to start our future. It has not been easy. There have been so many ups and downs. Many of the people that were with us on our wedding day have passed on now. Everything has not turned out the way we hoped and planned. After 35 years we need to stop taking our relationship for granted. No chocolate diamond but I did get some bling!

Happy anniversary! You were married on the exact same day as my parents. Hope you had a wonderful day.
Happy Annv. Thanks for getting married, creating our family... giving us life... taking us on fab family trips across country... and all that jazz.
