This year I once again set a goal of 100 books. Not sure I am going to make that. I do know right now I am on a roll of reading some great books. Yesterday I finished my 66th book. I gave it a rating of a 4. This last week I have read only good books.
Alice Sebold wrote the book, The Lovely Bones. I was not a huge fan of that book. It was upsetting to me. When I picked up the book, Lucky, I did not realize she was the author of Lovely Bones. I do not think I would have bought. Glad I did.
Alice Sebold was raped on the last day of her Freshman year of college. She was a virgin. Very innocent. This is the story of the rape, and how she pulled her life together to survive. It is so well written. I am not sure what differentiates this book from other survivor books. It was unique. Alice used humor and her amazing strength to get her through this terrible time. Her family hid their emotions and using that as her model it somehow helped her. Her parents did not know how to help her. Most people did not know how to help her. Interesting story.
Now I am ready for a light read!!
