The Marathon

Today I am reading like I used to in the olden days. Before I had grandchildren. Before I moved back here and found a life. I used to sit and read and read. I would read until I felt loopy. That is how I feel right now. My eyes are blurred. I could barely see to finish this book. But I did finish it.
In preparation for the long week-end, I went to visit my favorite store the other day. I picked up a stack of books to fill my week-end. Several were off of the clearance table. The clearance table can be a hit or a miss. This book was a hit.
It is called, The Divorce Party, by Laura Dave. I like the way it was written. I enjoyed all the characters. It was a uniquely written story. It is about two women as they struggle to know the men they love. They are poised at different ends of marriage. One is newly engaged. The other is almost divorced. They are both faced with the question, how many lies and how much truth can love bear?
The story is really about three generations of a family, a home, and relationships. It is about how much commitment is required to keep a relationship together and when it is time to let go. Each chapter is about one of the two women. It is one long day in their lives. I enjoy when an author tells the story through the eyes of a few of the characters in the story. This was well written. It was an interesting take on two women at opposite points in their lives.
It was a nice, easy read. I give it a 3. I will be looking for more books by this author.

The count is: 15
