Week Two

I finished my first complete week at Coco's.  Getting my days more organized.  Less to do while I wait for customers.  That means, reading time.  I have finally been able to read again.  Our book club read this month is Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.  I thought it was going to be hard to get into but it just flowed for me.  I must have been in the right frame of mind.  Hard subject matter but so well written.
A couple of yogis just stopped by the candy shop.  They were talking about Spark Notes.  The Cliff Notes of today.  I have not gone to that site yet.  Think I will have to check it out.  A great way to help understand what the author was trying to say.  Still hope to have book discussions become a part of the Sweet Shop.  Need to get a morning coffee crowd that enjoys reading.
I have starting reading on my phone.  Did not think I would ever do that.  So small!  I had time to read the other day and forgot my Kindle.  Reading on the phone was the next best thing.  Today I am reading a free or nearly free download.  One of the cleanse my reading pallet after a hard read book.  There was a time I only read the light reads.  Still enjoy them.
Think I am going to plan a Back To School Party For Moms.  See if I can't get some of them in here for morning coffee.  Not having much morning business.  It will take time.  The Paper has not done an article yet.  There are still people who do not know about my shop, what I carry, when I am open.  Hope something appears soon!
It is so relaxing in the shop.  I am not on the busy part of Main Street.  That might not be a good thing!  My side of Main has a great view of the train station.  I enjoy watching people coming and going.  More trains stop in our Village than I realized.  Makes me want to take a train trip.  Have not done anything fun yet this summer!!!  Well, I guess opening a business could be considered fun. I am talking more on the vacation level. Need to do something out of the ordinary with the kids before school starts.  Not necessarily a train trip, but something!
Customers, time to get off the computer.  Love when the kids ride their bikes downtown.  Feels Old School!

I have wonderful memories of riding my bike to the corner grocery (1/2 block away) to get candy. Nice that the kids in Dwight will have the same memory some day.
